How hot can the tubes get?

These photos show a digital thermometer with its thermocouple attached to the heat pipe bulb of a 58mm tube fixed to the roof a stall at a local green fair.  It took about an hour to reach this temperature, and reached a maximum of 234C later in the day.  It would go a little higher with more insulation around the thermocouple.  The temperature on the outside of the glass tube was only at the ambient temperature (it was about 22C that day) showing the efficiency of the vacuum insulation.
